Don't know if you have noticed
But Diane Cipa has closed her blog. I liked reading that on occaision because she pointed out problems with the signing agent field. Yes she made us mad at times but she had some valid points especially since we ourselves complained about the same issues. Further more she pointed out things from her perpective in the TC that had not occurred to us and that we needed to address. Be lieve it or not, I will miss her!

What's the scoop? If you know, why did she close the blog?

She says, and I'm quoting, "I feel the tide has turned. The pendulum has swung...We have a new day." And earlier, "I think the collective dirt ball mentality has broken into so much dust and the ones who care are regrouping into a new world and a new philosophy of doing the right thing. Regulators and lawmakers still have their jobs to do, but our work is really done. We've all screamed at the top of our lungs to be heard and guess what, it worked."
But I'm not sure what she means. I don't think whatever she's talking about includes notary signing agents. She seems to have dropped that concern entirely. I think she's talking about predatory lending and industry kickbacks and payoffs.
So much sound and fury and then. . .nothing.

What happens in the title industry does affect us. While historically she blasted our profession she also served to point out concerns. Yes some were exaggerated. As with all professions ours is in response to a need and she was a great source for finding out what our clients need. Anyone who read her and did not consider where she was coming from missed an opportunity to improve. You have to address objections.
The squeaky wheel gets the oil and that is what she did. Her concern with us was what she consider us as the wild card in the tranaction. Overall the TC industry had the Fitzhugh Dodson soggy potato chip approach. When you want a potato chip, need a potato chip you will eat the soggy ones if there is nothing else available. If you need a notary any will do.
If you think about the evolution of the professional signing agent, the successful ones are not stagnant. They are proactive and keep themselves "fresh" with their clients. They stay current with their professions as well as their own. Given choice between a soggy potato chip and a fresh one, which would you take?

An example
Click on the link and scroll down to May 15th . Its the blog on RESPA. BE SURE to read the comments. There is more value there than the usual mantra about signing agents that Diane is so famous for in our forums. While you are there look around at her postings. She must be exhausted!

Neither. . .
In my conversations with Diane, I determined that she didn't want any potato chips at all available. She wanted Fritos (licensed closing agents) to do the potato chip jobs.
Oh, that analogy didn't carry through at all. . .
