EOM RUSH OF SORTS
Why do some ss and lenders etc wait until the last minute to locate a notary? Tonight I had four calls after 6:20 pm for jobs they needed closed anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 PM. So sad that I was busy.

Poor planning on the part of the lenders

Maybe you were the notary they called after the first notary they booked had to cancel when the paperwork wasn't ready in time? (Just a conjecture - I wasn't the cancelling notary).

I turned down 11 closings today, all were for after 6pm. I already had 9 closings scheduled for today, I didn't want anymore.

Welcome to the club
I must have had 5 or 6 calls from 3pm until 9pm.

Sometimes they don't find out the loan will be ready for closing until last minute themselves. Personally, I like scheduled appts., however, I hate it when a scheduled appt is cxl'd because docs aren't ready and I turn down other assignments where docs are already available. .

Re: Silly Lenders
I like how you said they called you after 6:30 and gave you such a "great" window: Anytime between 7:30 and 9:30. I have told them, "I can do it at 11:00", after I finish with all my other jobs, drive home to print docs, then drive out to sign.
