Got an email from LSI
Wanting to reduce printing edoc fee to $18.00!
They are offering deals on office supplies to justify.
That is worse than Servicelink. I never accepted Servicelinks reduction.

Are they offering any deals for the split packages and the fax backs for the LSI signing I did today which take up loads of your time?

I already dislike LSI'S split signings and NOW they want to drop printing fees to $18? Not to mention they are slow pay.
Nope. My company's print fee is $30 or we don't do it. ;-)

I emailed with a simple no!
Just received a call from them asking why I said no.
I said are you crazy?
Anyway he then said that they have me down for a higher amount and we said goodbye.
They will try .

Drop your print fee to $18; raise your trip fee to cover the difference. Problem solved.

Re: Problem solved...not really if you only end up w/print f
If you only end up with a reduced print fee, you have to decide whether it's time to walk away from the client. In any negotiation there has to be some middle ground - if they won't budge from their position and you give in to it, you only set yourself up for the next non-negotiable demand.

Almost afraid to say this... I do quite a few for this co. & have never gotten 'the dreaded email'. If I did, I'd say "Sorry, no can do. Matter of fact, unless somebody has a great paper sale soon, I'm going to have to increase my print fee." (2 can play this game... and that's what it is. Let's send this down the line & see who bites.)

we set the fees not them
It's been said before and I listened. I have 3 basic fees: local signing, travel signing, and edoc fee. Makes things a lot less complicated if you set your own fees and stick to them no matter what they say. If you are signing contracts, cross out and initial the wording that doesn't fit your fee schedule. I am in a rural area, so there is not much competition (so I guess take that into consideration with what I am saying).

Re: what about other expenses
Can't these companies see that other expenses are increase such as gas. They want us to do more for less. that's too wrong!

Not their problem
They are watching out for their bottom line just as we each need to watch out for ourselves. As the number of loans has decreased, they are looking for a buck wherever they can find it. And too many notaries seem to be easy marks. If we all just said "No" to the ongoing attempts at reducing fees, they'd have to meet our fees to get the work done. Just say No.

Re: Not their problem
It was funny because they mentioned Kinkos in their email.
They expect me to go to Kinkos to print?

Re: Not their problem
I got that e-mail several months ago. Told them my e-doc fee is firm. No problem. And yes, they also mentioned the cost of printing a package at kinko's. I told them fine, they pay the print fee and they pay me a trip fee to pick them up of 25.00. I haven't had any problems or mention of Kinko's since. This is a business. I don't let the company that is hiring my services dictate my fees and neither should you.

Re: Not their problem
I received an unsatisfactory answer from LSI on the cheap print docs fee ... and, since they are definitely slow pay, I requested our notaries be removed from their call list.
We have to watch our bottomline and profitability, too. ;-).
