IREP 'interview'

So IREP called me today and I have either never done a signing for them before or it has been ages and I cannot remember. They said I was not in their system. So the young man on the phone asked me all the usual questions including several that I thought were entirely irrelevant and we agreed on a fee. Then he said he had to interview me to make sure I know about proper dress codes and how to conduct myself as a representative for them etc., I said I am a professional and don't need your tutorial but he insisted this was company policy. I told him to call me back later and have not yet agreed to submit to their quiz.

So here's my question. Let's say I go through their paces and questions and all..,in what way does that prove anything? Seems like an absurd waste of my time and theirs.

why is this a problem? I personally think it's a great idea and more companies should 'interview' and check references before they put people in their data base. If you've read these boards more than 2 days you know our little world is FILLED with people who have no idea what they are doing.

Yes I have read the board more than two days. My point was is asking me a few questions really checking references? What is proved by me telling them what they want to hear? If they ask me if I'm in good standing in the State of California and I say yes, does that magically make it true?

If I am not who I say I am, how would they know it by interviewing me for ten minutes? That was my question. Of course I only want to work with companies and other notaries who are competent.

i "jumped thru all their hoops" after giving them my fees... went to the interview and was kept waiting 30 min. while the office manager was next door at the Kmart going out of biz sale...then had to wait while he had a cigarette.............

did the interview .............and then he says I passed and they will pay 50-60 ....

WHAT? I never would have driven 30 mins if they had been up front.........

Oh my gosh! How unprofessional. The person interviewing you is out shopping while you wait? Charming.

I can't believe you had to drive to something like that. Here in Northern CA it would be over the phone. I'm just having trouble seeing the value of someone who on the phone sounds like they are in the sixth grade determining my capacity to successfully notarize documents.

They are the entity that handles the in-office closings for both Beneficial Finance and Household Finance. You do not print, just drive to the different offices, and perform the closings as needed. If I remember correctly they pay $75.00 a closing, and will not pay any extra for a piggyback, which is why I declined. Others may know more, so correct me if I am wrong.

I definitely do not do them for $75. Don't have to print docs but only have a $20 "trip fee" if the borrowers refuse to sign when you get there. That's my only problem with them.

They wanted me to do the spanish closings. I had to get certified. I studied the literature that they sent me.

When I got there they connected me with interviewer on phone. That person just conversed about the weather .

They certified me and called me for some signings. But, it was like everytime they added a piggy back without prior notification. Docs a lot of times weren't even ready. I had to sit there and wait.

The office that I was sent to more often was not organized at all. They have not called me lately.

This must be for a branch that really stinks. The division that I work with is very anal about communicating with the borrowers and letting them know exactly the terms of the loan, their payment, their payoffs, etc, all BEFORE they get to the office to close the loan. Our branch managers would not tolerate that type of business practices here in Maryland.
I have never been notified if there is a piggyback until I get to the branch. They don't pay extra for it.

You can negotiate a higher fee...but not much higher. You go to the branch, review the peperwork, close the deal, give it back to check for errors and go home. IREP pays on the 15th and 30th of the month without fail. Depending on your area, you can do 15+ per month with no printing, no fuss, no muss, no fax backs, no hand holding etc. I have been doing their loans for 4 years and have no complaints. Make more than $75 too. Believe me, it's worth the initial petty interview....just go with it and you won't be sorry.

BTW....the piggyback...

is just a line of credit, usually not mortgage secured....takes an additional 5 minutes w/no notarizations.....no big woop.
