Internships

Hello. I know people get upset when a "newbie" asks questions about getting started, but I have no idea how to search for companies that offer internships, as I am sure that will be the easiest way to get started in this business. I would appreciate any advice anyone could offer. I just need help with the first step because I am finding it difficult to find info on my own.

Thank you

Go to the NNA website, you'll find plenty there.

That's a joke, right?

I'm sure it is. An 'inside' joke.

It sure it but with an oversaturated business at this is now, I find it hard to believe that people are still interested in getting into it. What a waste of time and money. They are all hearing about how slow it is now and how hard it is to get paid for the work we do and they continue to ask. It is a shame.

Agreed. It is a shame. But, some people seem to have to learn by personal experience (the hard way) while others learn from observation.

If you are going to be rude in your responses, please don't post a reply to me.

Thank you

No one was being rude, just telling the truth and sometimes it hurts. Good luck to you.

I don't believe any company offers internships.
All I can suggest to you is that you sign up with as many companies as you can. Just stay away from those that don't pay - like SOX, and the lowball companies like Nations Direct.

There is a company listing on this website that should be helpful to you.

Rhonda, the point is... interneships are not how this business is done. You make your own decisions and you learn on your own. You may find a mentor out there somewhere who will answer some questions non gratis, or for a fee, but this is not a job where you work in an office with other people in a corporate environment. There are no internships or shadowing opportunities available to people in this work environment. You learn on your own.
The SA market is very highly saturated at this point, and the money just isn't there anymore, regardless of what the NNA tells you. They are making good money on every individual who falls for their earn big money as a signing agent song and dance.
No one is being arrogant with you. This is simply a fact of life that the newbies are going to have to learn - as someone said - either the hard way (wasting your money) or the easy way (through observation and common sense).
If you bought into the big money quick deal, then you got ripped off. We all learn through experience. This is a super bad time to try to work in this field. The people who have been doing it for years can't make it anymore; how can someone who has no clue what they're doing expect to make money doing this work?
Just think about it a little bit. These people are being honest with you. You are upset with what they are telling you because it's not what you want to hear. Unfortunately, it's the truth. For now, and probably the next year to year and a half - at least - this is a dead end street.
