It's been so SLOW.....

Hi everyone. I haven't posted to the forum before - but I read and have gotten some useful information - so thanks for all of the help!

I've been doing signings for over three years - I still work a full-time job...

The last signing I did was on June 22! I usually do about 10-15 per month. Not alot, but enough to keep us in the expendable income that we have come to enjoy!

Wondering if you guys are experiencing the same slow down? I can't believe the phone hasn't jingled all week! I didn't even get those calls that I turn down because they are out of my area - or the time didn't work!

Thanks guys!

Just got a call from an Oregon title company, through this site, to notarize 2 docs at a buyers office. Just notarize that's all, no muss no fuss, They'll pay my notary and travel fee through escrow. Can't depend on just that, but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

What counties do you cover in VA. I can add you to my database...

I have been making more $$ the past few weeks doing general work than signings. If you have things like Assisted living centers, senior citizens recreation centers and the like, drop off some cards there. Also, put a sign on your car advertising your services (see PAW's website) You would be surprised how fast those little jobs can add up.

Also, another thought. In my case, I have been out of town a lot the past few months at EOM. That's not a good time to be gone if you can help it.

I think Glen is right on target. Always have your marketing hat on! There are many ways to earn money as a notary (CA) besides loan signing work.

The ony way you can make a living as a notary is to be a loan signer but I probably make $700-$1000 per month doing public notary work.
I do a lot of Recovery work for companies, many hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

I have done 11 loan signings this week and my 2 friends in Riveside that I encouraged to be loan signers are busy like I am.
Its all about marketing!

California is the 49th state per capitia for notaries so lets not hear how CA is saturated with notaries; obviously the other 49 states have too many notaries!

My theory

I used to do a LOT of "pick a payment" loans, when the interest starts at 1%, and goes up the first month, then keeps climbing. The payments are negative amatorization with a 3 year PPP. The people with those loans were very poor, with lots ot stupid debt and in trouble. Then in the news I heard about evil sub-prime loans, and then the this Pick-a-payments dissappeared. And so did a lot of my work. Plus the interest rates aren't as low as they were a few years ago. I think the combination no more subprime loans and the higher interest rate is what slowed everthing down. Plus the market is saturated with all the loan people, so they are all scambling for more new loans and the borrowers are sick of their phone ringing at dinner time, so they stopped answering it. That's what I think
