Msg #198778

This Title Company again said "are you going to sign the HUD?" The Manager said that she has always asked the Signing Agent to sign the HUD because it needs to be signed in front of the Borrower... Am I missing something?

One more thing she said is that I can expand my services by signing the HUD. I assume that is just for her Title Company because I have done way over 100 loans and have never heard of such a thing.

Advise anyone?

<<<One more thing she said is that I can expand my services by signing the HUD.>>>

So, are you going to get your fee as a signing agent, AND another fee for closing agent? If not, then no siggy.

<<<The Manager said that she has always asked the Signing Agent to sign the HUD >>>

She can ask me anything she wants, it doesn't mean I'm going to oblige her. Wink

I have never signed the HUD as "closing agent". They are asking you to swear that YOU prepared the documents, which we all know, you didn't.

Like the others said, she's blowing smoke.

Re: sounds like another self-important snit to me.

I knew I wasn't missing anything.... Even if she paid me the Notary fee and extra to sign the HUD, NO WAY will I swear to something that I did not do. She is definitely wacky... I told her to find someone else who is willing to put there selves in that position. Maybe the Notary that went to the signing on the 21st and dated the docs for the 20th!!! (RTC, etc). Msg #201054!! Maybe I should recommend this Notary to the Title Company..LOL

Re: Doesn't the signer also certify to the disbursement

of the funds as outlined on the HUD? - d***ed if I"d certify to that.

Re: Msg #198778 - There is ONE company

that "requires" this to be done. I simply sign the bottom, followed by the words "witness only". I leave the settlement agent line blank & just sign right below the borrower's signature(s). This particular company won't pay if this is not done. I haven't done much with them in quite a while...

Re: Msg #198778 - There is ONE company

Now the title co called and asked if I can still do the signing (52 miles from house) @ 8pm tonight and have the docs to their office 1st thing in the morning (32 miles from house)... I said nope, find someone else... I guess they are desperate.
