  New Jersey Notaries
  Hello,
I was just wondering (out of curiosity) what the typical payment is for notaries in the State of New Jersey for Witness-Only closings.
Any responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

There is no such thing as a typical payment. Where have you been? You know what you are worth, whether it be $15 or $150

What I understand a Witness Closing to mean is that the docs are sent to the borrower and all you have to do is verify and notarize.
If this is what you mean then I would say it depends on what you want to charge for your business. Taking into consideration what the standard State fees are of course. I live in NY but I am licensed iin both States.

When I've been called for a "witness only" closing, they mean a regular refi with all of its requirements. Some title companies call them "witness only" closings because we are only doing the signing part of the closing and the HUD and dispersements are done in the title office.

Why don't you give them a break. Just maybe they are new!

Oh, I am sorry if I seem abrasive. 99% of us signing agents are not going to tell anyone exactly what we charge. I won't tell anyone so they can lowball me by $5 and cut my throat. That's the way it is. Again, my opinion and just like a butt, we all have one, I am not excluded from that, mine is not exactly small either.
