New Notary

Hi Everybody,
I just got my Notary Commission, and want to try to work part time as a Loan Signing agent. I have one question, maybe somebody can help me and answer it.
If I have to notarize for example 6 signatures on the Loan Package do I need to attach 6 aknowledgments after each page with my stamp and signature or only one aknowledgment for all the signatures in this Loan Package? Do I write anything or sign on the pages with signatures of the borrower?
Thank you in advance to those who will answer or let me know where I can find the information about it.

Hi Marianna, You might want to consider some serious study and research before you decide to enter this field. There are some excellent resources for basic knowledge of the signing agent duties and requirements. First and foremost is to know the laws in your state for notaries. Second is to find some training to familiarize yourself with all the various documents that can be included in any particular closing package and they are many. Also you might want to check for saturation of notaries in your area and determine if the investment for start up equipment will not be lost for lack of researching this whole idea before jumping into deep water. This is a very serious occupation dealing with peoples finances therefore be sure that you don't jeopardize someones' future without preparing yourself fully for this job. Do not accept any closings until you are well prepared. Spend some serious time reading the different forums for a lot in insight into this job.

Thank you very much. I took Loan Signig agent classes, so i had training, I know laws in my state for notaries, I am familiar with various documents that can be included in any particular closing package. The only question I have is the one I asked.
Can you please answer this question and not those that i didn't ask , or don't answer at all all if you don't want to. Don't waste your time please by writing me what I already know and what I didn't ask about.
Thank you

As a notary, you should know the answers to those questions. Basic notarial knowledge and common sense are necessary as a notary. You do not seem prepared to do even basic notarizations.

yes, and I am trying to prepare myself by asking questions.

Asking questions is proper but the reason your question cannot be answered is because the question you asked indicates a serious lack of basic knowledge. Your question tells us that something serious did not click along the way and it would be to your detriment for us to connect the dots. Why do you shun constructive advice?

Marianna,

Ruby is right to an extent. I would love to help you out, but your are setting yourself up for big failure and you haven't even begun, so I will not contribute to that. Stop now before you screw up someone's loan package. You don't even know the basics about doing a notarization! Get that figured out first.

This is a great place to get information, but we are not here to train you in the basics. You may consider this rude, blunt, or many other adjectivies, but it is the hard truth. Once you have your "job" as a notary down, then, and only then, consider becoming a LSA. You had better figure out how to walk, before you decide to run.

I would also return to the "class" where you got your "schooling" and either ask for my money back OR a retake. They have done you a big disservice. That is at least my opinion.

Wishing you the very best.

Use the link below to print out the current 2007 Notary

Handbook. The section on Acknowledgments starts on page 10. I would suggest that read it cover to cover, often. Apparently someone taught you how to pass the test, but little about the law. You have chosen a VERY difficult time to try and get in this business, but should you proceed you MUST know basic notary law, before you EVER try and do loans. My best advice to you is if you proceed without even basic knowlege, at least purchase at least 500,000.00 in E&O insurance to protect your house and your family..... There is a message, I believe that will give you some basic loan terms, and procedures, just put 33325 into the orange search at the top. If you really want to become familar with state of the state, start at message one and read to the present. There are many areas you need to become familar with ASAP. Like who actually pays and who will stiff you, who will hold your money 45 to 90 days. The orange search button should be your best friend. Best of luck:-)

Should have known

that since she has already taken a loan signing class, that she knows everything, except her basic notary duties. Yep, if she couldn't open the handbook, she has a real good chance of being in this business long:-)

MariannaC, You can answer your own question with a little self study.

99% of the time there will be a notarial certficate where needed. 1% of the time there's an error on the doc preparer's part and it is missing. Only twice in four years for me.

You really need to know more about being a notary before doing signings. Get your hands on a package of documents and study it.

http://www.ppdocs.com/Products.aspx
While you are at it, figure out how to install Swiftview on your computer.

The above link will give you packages of loan documents. Take some time to study them and figure out the answer to your question on your own.

Re: New Notary....they were the same people....

I knew that we had gone too long on this website to not have a newbie posting basic questions again. Remember, this is the same person that called some of us an idiot and emailed us telling her what she thought of us.

Yep, don't give this loser any help

She already showed us what her true colors are a few days ago. And she obviously realized that she made a horrible impression and was smart to change her name. Too bad she wasn't smart enough to figure out how to keep the fake new name and not revert back to the old one.

It use to be that we did not get these kind of questions here. What happened. Nevermind, the NNA happened.
