Orange button doesn't always work

When someone ask a question there is no need to be sarcastic about it. Many times you need to know what to look for in using the search button. Before you were able to walk someone helped you and before you were able to talk someone taught you before you were able to do signing someone also helped you. If you don't like the question just move on and answer the ones you can help that is the reason for this form a communication to help each other and get information out to others. Calling others names or trying to belittle them is a poor way to communicate next time try and help

Ok, thank you. I choose to sit in the corner and be a spectator. I am not helping anyone else learn how to lowball. I learned that lesson the hard way, I am sure some people will agree.
Also, Laurie, no one is going to tell anyone what to charge and how many miles to drive one way and what title companies to contact. I learned the closing business on my own and went to the courthouse and looked up title companies and can say that I did this the hard way.

In doing all that wouldn't it have been nice if when you asked questions someone didn't try to look down on you for not having the knowlage that they had. Evenwhen you were doing your research I am sure there was someone to help even if just to say "try that book over there"

Orange search button is like google -- you do know how to

search, right? There is very little difference.

There is a difference in response when someone states that they tried searching with xyz term and couldn't find what they were looking for vs. help me -- I'm a baby & haven't learned to walk or talk yet -- do it all for me. Hopefully you can see the difference in these 2 attitudes -- the first shows that the person at least took some initiative on their part and simply couldn't find the answer using common-sense key words. The second is the "I'm too lazy to do the work myself so do it for me" attitude.

You'll catch more flies with honey.

My parents taught me how to walk. My parents/teachers taught me how to talk. I learned to swim on my own at the age of 6 with a piece of rotten log by the riverside. I spent countless hours reading and researching this business before giving it a go, no one helped me.

If the search button doesn't ever worked, then ask the question why it didn't.

Laurie
Hate to burst your bubble but a lot of us came into the loan signing business before there were message board like Notary Rotary to help us. We learned the old fashioned way, we "flew by the seat of our pants". It is only since the NNA got into the act and flooded the market with signing agents that we see the questions that are being asked these days, "how do I get started" "what fees do I charge" etc.
Using the searh button is easy - search on "fees" or a name of a particular company if you want to know if they pay or not.

When many of us started

there were NO notary forums. Everything we've learned we had to hunt and dig for. Unfortunately the XYZ Assoc (and others) have been churning out new notaries by the gross telling them of the wonderful opportunities there are to be had in the Signing World. Many times they are even told that if they want to know something all they have to do is go on this web site and ask. Information on how to start and successfully run any kind of business is usually held pretty close to the vest. Not just this business, but any business. Why should we train our competition? Oh, you say, "I'm not your competition, I live in (fill in the state) and you're in MI". That is true, but if I post information on an open forum I've not only told you, but my brand new competition that lives 3 blocks away.

When business was very good, answers were given out way too easily (in my opinion). Now that all of us are doing the same number of closings in a week as we used to do in a day (if we're lucky) everyone has because of necessity become much less willing to share information. We are not here to build your business for you. If you are not experienced in the area of market research, you will have a very hard time becoming a success in this business. I don't mean to sound hard, but it is a reality. What we do is not rocket science, but it also is not for everyone. You MUST be a self starter, a marketing guru, a people person, a detail oriented person, someone who can roll with the punches (if you like everything well planned out and in apple pie order, this is NOT the business for you). All these things you should answer yourself before you (or anyone else) expends any more money. When I first got in this business, really all you needed was a cell phone. a reliable car, a stamp, some pens and a fax machine. It was possible to go to the library for any computer work that you needed. Most job oders were faxed routinely -- now about 98 percent are by email) And this is all in a little over 5 years time.

There is a wealth of information on this and several other very good forums, but you have to dig. Many times, it's just a matter of scratching the surface to get to the water. Can't tell you how many times I've seen a question asked on this forum and someone else had asked the same question (and had it answered) two or three topics below their question. That tells me that not even the first page of this forum was read before the question was posted. Now do you understand the sometimes sarcasism?

We've had people post test questions on this forum so they can pass a certification test or a test that a SS gives. And then get mad because we won't take the test for them. Sorry, but when you go out in the field, I won't be sitting there next to you keeping your fat out of the fire. You have to do it yourself.

Re: When many of us started

Thank you Dorothy, I take what you said as helping me understand this forum a little better and I feel that you were able to do it with out being sarcastic or trying to belittle me. You are right I didn't think of it in the way that someone is trying to take your business away from you or want answers to the test. I might not have been in this business as long as you however I did work just as hard as you to get started and I am still learning. When I ask a question on a forum like this it is because I have exhausted ALL other means of research even when you try to find something in the internet if you put a wrong word in then you get nothing but porn.

I don't think with a trickery mind so it never accured to me that people would go on forums like this doing the thing you said. And yes I will share some of my ideas with other but like you I don't share ALL my ideas. Also like you I am good at what I do and I also had to learn it all on my own because in my area there are no other agents that I can ask. I came up with my pricing on my own, I didn't even think to ask someone else. Perhaps when I have been in this business for as many years as you and all the other old timers then I would have come across the things that you have come across.

I am not trying to insult anyone, or demean the hard work that you have done but don't try to demean me either. I am sorry if I offenced anyone, next time I will keep my thought to myself and just worry about my business.

also notice IF you read previous posts whether on your own or thru the search button: Notice the ones that are answered in the direction you want... they have crafted the question that shows they did some leg work and research and they are asking not demanding or whining. NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING... I consider it a gift when my queries are answered not my right.

The search button is always your best friend for answers. That being said -

The rudeness and sarcastic attitude some people here take in response to questions shows a high level of unprofessioanlism. If you've had a bad day at the office, don't take it home with you. You do not have to be ruthless in replies. You can get the same message across by being polite. Gee, what a concept huh.
