  PDF Attachments-Viruses
Can viruses come in a pdf attachment? I keep getting these unknown pdf files sent to me. Not going to open them, but just curious. I did scan one just to see and it came up negative on the virus scan.

Good rule to follow is NEVER open anything that you aren't expecting or doesn't come from someone you know....even then I would confirm that they sent you an attachment.

Im not going to open it. Ive just been receiving alot of them and havent heard of viruses being sent by PDF. Again, just curious I tried to research it on the web and came up with nada. Another reason is I would like to warn my network friends but know what I am talking about.

Remember, also, that just because it says it's a pdf doesn't mean that it is one.

I've been getting them too. Since many documents come to me in PDF I make sure the sender's name is familiar to me or the email includes the tc name I am expecting doc's from. The rest I delete.

I'm getting a lot of them lately too - 5-6/day - they go straight to my bulk folder and I just delete them - they come through as the sender being a full name (not an e-mail address) and I'm also getting a lot of "you've been sent an e-card from a ___ (schoolmate, friend, relative)....not chancing any of it - just deleting and then blocking them if Yahoo blocker will accept it.

  The "E-card" is a virus/exploit.
The pdf files are usually junk mail like the junk faxes.

  Re: Viruses
It's probably a trojan virus. Check it out:

There is absolutely no danger if you do not have a full version of Adobe Acrobat on the computer. It has no effect on Acrobat Reader

Call me paranoid but I scan every attachment I receive before opening. This includes good customers; there is no guarantee that they don't have a virus on their machine that they don't even know about yet. It just takes a couple of seconds.

I'm no virus expert, but I don't trust that an attachment is actually the type of file it claims to be. If I received a PDF that seemed safe, but I was not 100% sure about, not only would I scan it, I'd save it as a file and open it with the Acrobat Reader, instead of letting Outlook open it for me.
