Palm Treo 650 smart phone


I am trying out a used Palm Treo 650 phone from a friend who does not use it anymore.
Does anyone have experience with this phone? I offered $150 to him if I keep it, but I am not hearing good things about it. The software shuts down often and the audio is poor.
If anyone uses one now, can you relay your experience with the phone. Also, can anyone recommend a better alternative which offers similar features.

Use it. Love it. That being said, I likely would not buy it. Palm is toast. Company is up for sale. Likely cannot maintain its franchise.

I have used the Treo for years and am familar with it. You can schedule, do excel, forward documents via web access, surf the web, get free directions, even tether it to your laptop for high speed access, do account on pocket quicken, setup bluetooth automatic updating, take pictures of driver's licenses etc. Email updates can be slow as you go through yahoo or the like. Faster on a RIM based phone. Sometimes the delay is annoying when you are waiting for documents.

Check the price your a paying verses ebay. If you like gadets and $150 is not a big deal to you, it might be okay, otherwise, you might want to look for something else.

I don't have one of these, but my blackberry is difficult to hear a caller, so I got a bluetooth headset & voila! that problem is solved. Is there a way to turn off the auto shut down feature (assuming that is what is creating the shut off problem)? Go online & try to download the user manual from treo -- most are in .pfd format these days -- to see about how to change settings, etc.

I totally recommend the Blackberry 8800.

This is what I use and I LOVE it. It has really changed my life, waiting on docs, etc. It also has Telenav GPS which is fantastic for what we do!

I have a 700wx and I love it. I use a lot google maps. You can buy a new 750 for $199.
