Signature Issue

I never cease to be amazed....I just closed a loan where the borrower first started out signing their name accoriding to instructions, first name, middle init and last name, then halfway through reverted to first 2 initials and last name. I instructed them 3 TIMES to the way they needed to sign, but insisted that was the way they wrote their first name, which was obviously just an initial. I pointed out that it didn't match signature on DL, but that's the way they insisted on signing. Told them it may be considered an undersigning and may not get their $$$....didn't care. Called LO and SS.....they didn't care. Told them I would not return if it needed to be done again. I had borrower add the way they were signing on the sig aff.

I've experienced this in the past, even with the LO at the table...and the loans funded. Any feedback on similar experiences appreciated.

Thanks

The way I have handled this situation is as them, "does this signature read" John A Doe? Even if it looks like JA Doe, and they say "Yes". I go with it. If they say "No", I try to get them to sign correctly, but if they refuse, and the LO says it's fine...just DO it! :o)

Never has been a problem...
