Strange confirmation letter.
I got a confirmation letter where it says the following:
"Note the following is a Preliminary* Invoice * This Invoice is for reference only and may not list all changes pending until order is complete
Base Charges Currently Attached to this Order:
Summary of Charges:
* Signing Fee $100.00 * Email-Docs $25.00 Total Charges Due = $125.00"
We agreed on 125.00 dollars but why the preliminary invoice, so it means that they can adjust it the way they want it? Of course they will do it below not upward. I would like to hear comments or opinions.
Thank you.

JMHO, but it sound like it is contingent to successful closing. And changes up could occur if your were to double trip, ect so it doesn't seem like a big deal:-)

It is confusing to me in that it looks like they are "invoicing" you the notary as opposed to you invoicing them for your services.

I wouldn't worry about it. Most signing companies say they will dock you $10 for this and $10 for that if a mistake is made. These guys are just covering their 6's. This also leaves you room for additional fees should the signing be a difficult one. I have received similar confirmations in the past, completed the job and was paid the agreed upon fee without incident.
