The steady income vs. the NSA

At 6:50 this morning, my hubby informed me that the tire in my truck had a nail in it. OK, my first appt wasn't until 8:30am. If I got up now, and drove to Les Schwab, I could still make my appt, Hubby left and I called the tire place. They open at 8:00, Great. I was there at 8:00 but their tire guys didn't get there until 8:30. I was 1 1/2 hours late for my appt.

So, I understand that my hubbys job has the benefits and I'm a contractor, but....my job is important too.

No questions, just venting.

I feel your pain Blueink but it's like that bumper sticker says "S&$^ Happens", doesn't matter what you do for a living.

I once had a husband who would point things out to me too, 'nuff said.

My hubby also. Now he does this with me. Needless to say he is zipping it now.

Seems to me, in this age of gender equality in which women rightfully demand equal opportunity in law enforcement, fire fighting, the military, construction, etc., the most a spouse/significant other owes his partner is to >>>help<<< with such matters, not to assume the full burden of correcting them. Whether he goes further is up to him; if he does not, then I would think no blame attaches -- unless, of course, the complaining party is willing to roll out of bed and fix the flat tire on HIS wheels when the occasion arises.

I insist that The Platinum Blonde carry a couple of cans of Fix-a-Flat for emergencies. Remember, though, that if it is used, tell the tire repair manxxxx person, because it can explode if proper precautions aren't taken.

Wow! The fun just never ends being a notary. You can have some Very weird things happen. Don't stress over it just give'um a call and let the people know what is going on. Most people understand, they have jobs too. Bless your heart, what a crummy way to start your day. Hope the rest of the day went better ! RE: the hubby! Some men just make me scratch my head and wonder "what the heck is going on in their noggin" I'll leave it go at that. lol

Keep your chin up and have a great weekend.

Flat tire, then spare got flat within a week

never did figure out why. Just drove s-l-o-w-l-y home on flat.

Yes, AAA is a god-send. Had a flat once on way to a signing -- about a block away. Continued driving (very slowly) to signing, called AAA -- it was pouring outside. Told borrowers what happened & that I needed to wait for AAA. They were gracious & left front door open so I could watch for flashing yellows of tow truck. Driver arrived & changed tire (I gave him a tip due to conditions). Well worth the $$ for AAA that day.

My hubby would have let take him to work

and then go to my closing, go back home, switch vehicles, go get the tire fixed, go back home, get his vehicle, and then pick him up at work when he's done. All he ever asks if that happens is that I pick him up on time. He works in a factory, and his job has all the benefits, but he appreciates, understands and puts a high value on mine too. Smile

Every car has a spare tire where is yours?

I know I have one, in my belly.

I have a donut spare tire - HATE those things!

Now custard-filled donuts are good, but those dumb little nearly worthless mini spare tires are awful. They get you just about far enough to get to someplace to buy or fix a tire, if you're lucky.

Foam Stuff

I have a couple of cans of that foam stuff that you can get at the auto supply store. It's Great if you just have a "leaker" , but if you have a gash in the tire , welll "A hiking we will go" lol
It's neat stuff and you can eat your custard-filled donut while you wait for it to expand in the tire. Smile

I've had 8 flat tires in the last year between 2 vehicles

and my horse trailer. Oh....the spare on my trailer keeps loosing air now, so make that 8 and 1/2. All my flats have been caused by screws. My truck now has 2 new tires, and my car that I use for my NSA work has 2 new tires.

I wound't call this normal wear and tear, since I should have gotten 30,000 more miles on the 2 tires on the car. Can I write this off on my taxes?

NCLisa: "Can I write this off on my taxes?"

Yeah! if you claim actual expenses, and no if you claim the mileage. JMHO.

AAA

I had my engine freeze on my right after the signing. I had to replace the whole engine. (I'm just glad I finished the signing before it died.) I could not do this without Auto Club. They will come to your house to change a tire too.

I have USRider, not AAA.

USRider will also tow my horse trailer, and find a place for my horses if we break down.
