A Phone Call....
A women called me tonight asking if I would do a signing for her. She said she just moved here from CA (she was a Notary there) and is selling the home she lived in and needs a paper signed for the sale. She will also need a CA Jurat done but she knows there is a new one and will print it out before I get to her house. I looked this new one up and the newest is from 2005. I am in PA, can I do the CA Jurat?

The notarization is taking place in PA, right? If so, you use what is compliant with YOUR state, i.e. PA. All states accept the notary certificates from other states as long as the notarization is completed in the 'other' state.

Thank you, I just told my husband the same thing but he wanted me to ask someone anyway. I knew I would have to use PA rules or cross out the CA and put PA. This is why I turned it down. It sounded a little odd... Thanks again!

Re: A Phone Call....check your rules
Maybe a PA notary will answer your request. However, in Texas, for instance, I could use the California jurat because it's reasonably compliant with the Texas jurat. Obviously you're a little new to this so you need to find out if that's okay in PA IMHO.

I will look further into this, thank you though... I just didn't feel right about it so I turned it down. When a women gets a feeling she needs to stick with it :-)
