Advertising - Borrowing from others

I have to say that some of the notaries in my area sicken me. I found part of my website in another notaries ad on Craigslist. If these people want to advertise, fine, but at least write your own material!! Don't steal mine or anyone elses for that matter!!

Re: Advertising - Borrowing from others, I notice that you

have the copyright symbol and date (by the way only one date is necessary, the last date you added content would suffice) on your website. In my opinion you would be perfectly within your rights to write a letter to the plagiarist putting them on notice that you website is copyrighted and that you intend to vigorously defend your intellectual property. Ask that they remove the copyrighted material or pay for it and give them a date by which to comply. I am not suggesting that you follow up by court action but you might follow up with a bill if they don't take it down and update the bill regularly, I suspect it will get their attention.

you can also notify craig and he will take it off his list as he keeps tabs on it all.....

I've emailed them through Craigslist, but don't know if they will even respond.

I have had the same problem. Some have even stolen whole pages from my website and pasted it into their own. Some of my pages have links to other pages, but since the thief doesn't steal the other pages, the links are broken. It makes it very easy to track that way.

I had someone steal my entire website last year, but she changed it after I posted about it on here. It wouldn't be so bad if someone in CA did it, but when someone in your own market area steals 100% of your information, even your "catch phrase", then it really bites!

How lazy can people be that they can't even design their own ads and websites, they need to steal them from someone else??!! It really isn't that hard to design a webpage!
