Brother 5250DN

I have a brother 5250DN printer with dual trays. I have a problem with the auto select feature of this printer when it comes to printing documents with both legal and letter size paper. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my printer does not automatically select the right paper size. I have read the manual and I believe all of my settings are correct.

I have the same printer, I had trouble with it at first, make sure where it says page scaling the box says 'none' and make sure the 'choose paper source by PDF page size' is turned on,
I also switched my legal and letter so legal is on the top, hope this helps.

Not sure if this will help but this was my problem when it wasn't distinguishing between the sizes on my Brother printer. After you install, go to Printers in Control Panel and click on your printer. When the box pops up, go to Printer, Sharing. Go to Accesories. Make sure your second tray is shown under Installed. If not, it will probably be in Installed Options. If it shows there, click on Add and it will add it to the Installed field. Then make sure your Paper Source shows Tray 1 Letter, Tray 2 Legal (or whatever is applicable). Hope this helps!
