Brother MFC-8220. Fade spot
I am getting a fade spot on my 8220. Happens more when I use it as a copier and a smaller fade spot as when used as a printer.
Heaven knows I have worked that machine to death and never replaced the drum.
Is the drum demagnetized or will cleaning with alcohol resolve the problem?
Especially interested to hear those that have clean with alcohol what their experiences have been. I do not know if I touched the drum accidentally the last time I was refilling the toner.
Thanks in advance.

I am interested to hear suggestions. My Bro HL 5140 has 3 fade spot (lines) and I have changed the drum and cartridges without results. I have not yet cleaned it with alcohol, because I wouldn't know where to start on it.

Probably dumb, but
have you tried shaking the toner cartridge back & forth to redistribute the toner?

Re: or sliding the bar thingy back and forth a few times?
ZeeCa is correct about sliding the bar back and forth, I have the Brother 4100 and I have cleaned the drum with alcohol but make sure you moved the drum with the wheels on the side of the drum.

There's more than just sliding the drum thingy
The fading symptom is commonly associated with wear on the "pressure roller" and/or the "fuser" sleeve.
