Companies that don't pay

I have done several signing for SOX since October 2006. The first few months I sent them invoices never received payment, then I started calling almost everyday left so many messages no response. When I did talk to some one I was told I would receive payment next week that it is being processed however next week never came. I have even done signings in good faith that they would pay like they said they would still nothing. I have given them until Friday June 15, 2007 to pay me in full or I would turn them over to colledtions. I just want others to know that if anyone from that company calles for a signing be aware they don't pay.

Good Luck. You should have done a search on them before agreeing to sign. There seems to be boat load of people who are in the same predicament as you re: Sox. Thankfully, I have never had to deal with them. I just don't understand how they are still in business?

Laurie, Contact the BBB in their town and report a dispute. That is how I got my money. It took me 4 months to collect it, but I finally did. Perserverance pays. Keep at them and don't let up. Good luck.

Re: Companies that don't pay - SOX again

Black plauge (sp).

If you want to work for free to gain experience then SOX is the place to go. Took me over six months to get paid for three invoices in 2005. I sent multiple invoices, called all the time, actually got BBB involved and I contacted the state. I received partial payments finally and lived with my losses. They are at the top of my Denial of Service List.

If all else fails, contact Title and lender over their practice of non-payment.

BBB is the only way with SUX

As long as you keep accepting jobs, they will keep giving them to you, with no intention of paying. I also finally got paid by contacting the BBB, but of course, now they never call me since they know they really have to pay me. But so what.

Another warning: United Notaries. Even the BBB can't get money out of them.

labbb complaint, paid w/in 6 days

Just be precise: let them know what you have done to collect, that you have fax trans. reports to back up that your invoice went and was recd. by them, their payment policy that they have violated, etc. Got paid in 6 days, for every penny. Good does triumph over Evil!

A year ago, I filed complaint with BBB & was told that they

"cannot assist in a debt that is owed". I asked them, does that mean they will assist in collecting a debt that is NOT owed? I never did understand and never heard anything more from them. Whats the trick to getting their assistance?

Re: A year ago, I filed complaint with BBB & was told that they

When I went to BBB about Excel Signing Services, LLC in Costa Mesa, CA, Registered Agent Mr. Steve Vahey they closed the case due to lack of response. The close 11 other complaints for lack of response. He is still going after unsuspecting SA's and not paying. The latest I know of was last month. He owes me and others from 2006. The power of BBB is limited.

I have done several closing for them also and have yet to receive payment. Is there a site where we can go to look up companies so see if they are reputable? If there is. please let me know so that I can review it before signing with a company. Also, I am think about expanding my business to do more than mobile closing. I am thinkg about getting into car titles etc. Does anyone else do all types of notary or are you just doing mobile signing?

Yes there is a website. And I put Excel Signing Service on there as a nopay company, as I am one of the unlucky ones Ducky is referring to. The website is www.notarybeware and is run by Linda Kaufman. The fee is 20.00 a year and they have good and bad listed. There is also a rating you can do for each, but Linda says alot of people only post and should rate the companies as well. I have thought about using the collection service through NNA, as I can chose what plan of collections to do. One is going after their credit rating with all 3 of the credit reporting agencies, and put a collection blemish on them. I just havent done it yet, but I think I will. Not very exspensive.

See my thread above on Notarize 24-7. I am having trouble with them where others are not. But after my conversation with Louis from there this afternoon, I will not work for them again.

I have a full Mobile Notary Service. I do mostly signings however if someone calles me up and wants a title nortize a title I will. I also have a flyer at our local Senior Center donating my services to seniors by appointment only. They need to call me and I will meet them at the center. I also joined the Referral Club that way I am the only notary that can be in the club and I get more business that way.
