EOM Rant

As I wait for edocs to arrive, and borrowers calling me to ask me to please not be late because they have to be somewhere, I sit here pulling my hair out and wondering if its worth all the hassle.

I have signing services calling on friday begging me to take their job for today, agreeing to have the docs to me in time, yet when I email asking where they are they get all put out sounding and say they will look for a new notary. G/l with that!

I know I'm beating a dead horse but can't they get their acts together? I don't have the luxury of printing docs in my car, heck I don't even have access to high speed internet way up here. I cover 3 counties that the saying "you can't get there from here" was coined for.

Just venting, no need to reply unless you'd like to vent too!

Serina, I completely agree with you. IMHO, e-docs have gotten completely out-of-hand with being so last-minute. It has gotten to be the norm, unfortunately. It's amazing to me that lenders think that the borrowers (and the notary for that matter) are willing to sign at any time of night. I've had many EOM appointments where docs finally came through at 10:30 PM or later (Countrywide, anyone?) and of course the borrower says it's too late now! I am not a 24-hour notary, so I do not usually sign that late unless it's as a favor for one of my better clients.

I personally would not feel comfortable with my own loan docs being e-docs, since I have gotten docs for the wrong borrower before, I've gotten docs that have come through as an undisclosed 1st/2nd and then if we can't come to an agreement on the increased fee I now have docs for someone I will never see, and even though notaries should be good about deleting docs from their e-mail, I would wager that it does not happen as faithfully as we would like. With all the fear of identity theft now-a-days, I think borrowers would have a fit if they realized how their financial information is flying around the internet on a daily basis.

Re: EOM Rant EDOCS ABUSED.....

I agree, edocs are out of hand. When this option came into play, I thought that this would be awesome.... now we don't have to wait on overnite or courier pickup and the pkg. will be ready for the borrower and everyone will look more professional. But instead, it seems to me it has just been abused.... instead of utilized...... IMO
