I doubt that this printer would print anything except PDF files. Printing from any of the e-doc proprietary programs may lock up/freeze your computer. Check to make sure that it has its own processor and its own memory. If it does not, then it uses your computer's resources. And while, may be inexpensive, the cost of ownership could be very high. High cost of toner cartridge for the number of pages you get printed.
Check the cost of toner cartridges, how many pages will it print. Overall you might find that it isn't a cost effective investment. Further, the smaller (less expensive) printers are not rated to print the number of pages you need for loan signing. The printer will wear out a lot sooner than you think.
Things to consider when purchasing a laser printer:
1. Cost of Printer; 2. Cost of consumables, i.e., toner cartridges, drum units (brother); 3. Monthly Duty Cycle; 4. Processor (has its own or uses computer) 5. Memory (has its own or uses computer) 6. How many pages is the toner cartridge rated to print
Good Luck.
