I saw a guy on a Motorcycle today
Passed me on the white line and I just started to daydream about how cool it would be to have a bike like that to transport me from assignment to assignment. I could even start taking $50-60 signings and schedule half a dozen a day like I did in the pre gridlock days. Several miles down the road I noticed cars pulling over to the left shoulder and people getting out to check on that same guy laying about 50 feet from his wrecked motor bike. Hmmm. So much for daydreaming.

I lived in CA for years and that was the norm to be passed on the white line by motorcycles. Made me very envious while sitting in traffic, although the potential was always there for them to be hit by a car that suddenly decided to change lanes. When I moved to VA I discovered that motorcycles are not allowed to do that - they have to sit in traffic like everyone else! They are allowed to use the HOV (carpool) lanes though.

The only state that is legal in is California. And it's only legal because there is no law that specifically states that you can't. It is called lane splitting - personally I don't do it because I ride a cruiser and am just too wide to fit between the cars.... and I don't trust drivers to not change lanes at the last second in front of me, throw something out their windows, or open their door right in front of me. Guess I don't trust my fellow drivers : )
BTW - I had a great ride over Mt. Lassen over 8500 ft., yesterday and there was still quite a bit of snow on the sides of the road.

When I was in the cardio unit of our hospital w/my husband, they had just completed two heart transplants. I asked where do they get the hearts, the nurse said donorcycles, young, healthy men, just brain dead. So sad.

I have a Honda PC800 that I ride to closings when I can. It be refreshing but difficult to answer phone to schedule deals. So what I save in gas may be lost in additional business. But for the last deal of the day it is great.

Oh my!! Makes me sick to think about it because my husband is heading from the beach in Ocean City today over to Baltimore and it freaks me out. He doesn't ride a crotch rocket, he is a Harley guy but some people that drive vehicles with 4 wheels have little thought for the motorcycle rider. We are extra careful when we ride, we do not speed or pass (unless "pop pop" is going 40 in a 55. This is kind of off of the topic but I have been riding on that bike on the highway and people will cut in front of us, pull out in front of us, just like we are invisible. That's why we have the Reinhart pipes now, we sound like a mac truck coming down the road, I use to think guys that bought the loud pipes were "compensating for something they lack" but now I know it is for safety reasons.
