Interesting Experience with ss/lender

I get a call about 2-3 weeks ago from an out of state ss, they have never used me before. I accept the work order, time had not yet actually been set but it was for that day according to ss. I have printed docs, ss suggested this was urgent. I contact client (this is on a Tuesday) she states she is only available Friday........hummmmmmmm
I contact ss and update them and did they want me to pencil them in for Friday and can we use docs I've already printed.
I make attempt to contact ss as Friday approaches, no luck. I call the client and she informs me she has canceled altogether, she was unhappy with rate.

A week or so passes, I get a call from another ss, the client name is the same as above, I ask if the address is so and so, they confirm yes it is. I did not realize it was a different signing service at that moment. Both ss were new to me and had not used me before. I tell the ss that I received a call for this client over a week ago and I already know she is only available on certain days. They leave it up to me to set time.
SS is interested in knowing who their competition is, I give them the name, I'm scratching my head on this one still trying to figure this all out. It then occurs to me, of course client is shopping from lender to lender, that explains the two different ss.

I call client to confirm appointment, she informs me she is not going with this lender either.
I said you know I got two calls from two different services to notarized docs, client ask who this lender is, I tell her, she once again confirms she is not going with this loan.
I say ok I'll let ss know, as I'm hanging up she says I'd like to meet you and when I decide which lender I'm going with I'm going to request you. I said great and hope to hear from you soon.
Let me also interject, fees from ss were fair, one was 25 dollars less then the other, payment would be at least 30-45 days for each.

Third call (days later), it's now the lender calling directly, he is offering a wonderful fee, client has requested me and by the way this is the first lender from the first ss but he is not going through ss to hire me, offers me a fee. The lender has now met the client's demands.

Now the first ss that contacted me, had an entire laundry list of rules to adhere to......I hate getting a laundry list, that in itself makes me want to refuse the order.

Long story even longer, loan funded and lender paid in 10-14 days, now had this been with the ss, payment according to laundry list would have been some 30-45 days down the road.....

Of course we do have some great ss out there, that one can count on like money in the bank, never a problem.

But this turned out to be a very unique situation.......

Just wanted to tell you that I hate the "long list" of laundry rules too. Those letters are sometimes filled with veiled threats of all the reasons that they look for not to pay or pay less than agreed too. "if you don't do this...you will not be paid". One day I became really nonplussed with this and made up my own letter to send to every one that sends me one of those letters. It has been great fun seeing response to this letter. I require a response in order for me to be selected as the notary. While I am sure this is unorthodox, and they don't expect it, at least I have received responses. And I make conditions clear.

Re: I find the laundry list offensive myself.

I often find the ones with the longest laundry list, the ss you need to worry about the most.
