Land America/Low Balling

Anyone else having a problem with Land America fees. I have turned down their last 3 orders due to their fee structure. In the past I have enjoyed what I thought was a good relationship and have been doing 5-8 per month with no fee problem. They wanted me to travel 80 miles, e docs and said they would only pay $10.00 travel fee. I told them thanks but no can do. Also, I have had 2 TC contact me and agree on fee but never received a confirmation in the past week. Looks like everyone is wanting something for nothing. Any comments

Only comment I can think of is: We can't fix stupid. Either LandAm gets some smarts... or the dumb NSA who's taking these does.

80 miles - 10 dollar travel fee

gas $3.25/gallon avg 4 gallons used on the trip = $13.00 Now factor your time driving, wear, tear and insurance

The cost to drive is over 52 cents per mile. Ergo, 80 miles

costs over $41.60. Even at the tax deduction rate of 44 cents, the cost is $35.20.

Accepting 12.5 cents per mile?

When the lowballers figure out they are ~paying~ for the privilege of working, perhaps even they will understand it is too high a 'cost of doing business.'

Sheesh. I need some coffee.

Re: for some reason they pay me my fee

Interesting... I had the same thing happen last month... got a call... they always prefice their calls with " I have one in your area, it's only a small package" ... so you know where they are going with that... I negotiated the fee, but not to what my normal fee is... then they sent me the doc's 1 hour before the settlement but now it's a first and second... opps, we forgot to mention that... so I called back and told them their fee wasn't acceptable for a first and second... after a nasty conversation, she accepted my fee.... not only is gas a problem now but in MD. you have to have other licenses aside from just being a notary.... thanks for sticking to your guns and not budging on your pricing.... these low ballers will learn, they will get what they pay for.

The scheduler will not necessarialy know that there is a 1st and 2nd. Usually, all you have to let them know, and they will adjust your fee accordingly.

Re: for some reason they pay me my fee --not anymore as of

last Friday they told me they lowered their fees. They will try until they find someone to take the fee . . which you and I both know they will find someone! Frown

Met my fee...

I have worked with them a couple of times and each time they met my fee (had to negotiate) and had no problems with getting docs.

Re: Met my fee...

lucky you Kari... everytime they call, they want to only pay $85.- $100. It costs a lot of money to keep a TPL license in MD, plus E & O.

When I first signed up with them about 6 months ago, I filled out a fee schedule and they have had no problem meeting it. I have not had to negotiate on any fees. Every confirmation has the fees that I first agreed to, and I did not skimp on the fees either.
I love it when they call I hope that I am free, easy packages, most of the time they are sent to me early, and they pay with in about 2 weeks. I’ll take all that come my way.
