Laser printer with all the whells & bistles

My HP 6100 series inkjet 4-in-1 printer has developed a few quirks of late, not the least of which is refusing to accept faxes. I seldom use it for a printer, but do use it for scanning, faxing, and copying, the latter sometimes in color.

I'd like to replace it with a laser 4-in-1, preferably but not necessarily with color capability. (I run two laser printers, an HP 1022 B&W, on which I print all my loan docs, and an HP 2550 color on which I do stationery, biz cards, an occasional brochure for a client, or my business, or my church, etc.)

Does anybody have any recommendations for a good non-HP laser 4-in-1, with or without color? I've been using HP for so long I have no idea even what the other reputable brands are.

Not knowledgeable enough to recommend anything......

specific, but if you are doing a lot of e-dox, the more expensive
the printer, the cheaper is is to operate.
eg. I am looking for a small laser to carry in my car.
The HP 1000 series uses a cartrige for about $70 that yields 2k pages
The 3000 series is a bit more, but $80 cartrige yields 5K pages.
The 5000 series is about $200 for 20K (too big to be portable. )
Paying a bit more in front can yield big savings over time.

Hugh I haven't bought this yet and am still researching but I have narrowed it down to the HP 3390 all in one. It is b/w but I don't need color.

This is a link at Office Max. I am searching for a better price, and have found one on ebay but haven't made a firm decision yet. Hope this helps.

Any particular reason you are looking for a non-HP or is that just for comparison purposes? Just curious.
