Member of the Month Award

I wanted to share with the board an experience I just had with another member here....a couple of months ago, an old roommate of mine passed away at the age of 49. I had lived with his family in our late teens and early 20's in a resort area in the 70's and 80's. They had been living in Seattle at the time of his death. I noticed one of the members here was from that resort area, so I contacted that member and asked if they might have a photo of the area I could send his family since they hadn't been back in many years, and are going to scatter his ashes there next month. The member without any hesitation went out THAT DAY and took over 30 beautiful pictures of the area, including the house we had lived in, the school we went to and sent them to me within hours.

I don't include the members name because i would want to get their permission to identify them first. But if they don't want to be identified I thought someone might like to know that even us 'Newbies' (yes, I've only been signing full time for about a year now) meet some wonderful PEOPLE here.

I look forward to more great experiences with members here at NotRot.

(***For the record, I did try to become an NSA the day I was born, but the NNA background check only came back with 'Underwater Bullfighter' as previous occupation and couldn't come up with the membership fee)

Everyone have a great 4th of July week and just be glad you're alive.
Thanks for reading.

I'm sorry for your loss. That's a very moving story. I'm sure you are a blessing to your friends and extended family. And how awesome of the member here to add some smiles and spark some memories at such a difficult time.

"Member of the Month Award" -- what a neat idea! Thanks for sharing your story -- and a different perspective on more than just this board. We *should* all be glad we're alive, and grateful for whatever health we have because we could lose it in a instant.

I, too, wish everyone a Happy (and SAFE) Fourth of July week! Let's also take a moment to appreciate the freedoms that we have in this great country on our nations birthday and stop and think about what it really is that makes us special. Then let's each continue to do our part to keep it that way.

Have fun and drive carefully out there...!!!

Wow...what a nice post to read. Seriously, I really believe that most folks in the world really will step up to the plate when necessary. This person and your deceased friend have my prayers in church tomorrow morning.........what nice thing to do for that family. I am sorry for your loss.
