More on driving directions
I have found MSN Maps and directions to have the most up-to-date driving directions. http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?wip=2&v=2&rtp=~&FORM=MSNH. You can print the driving directions without the map, which I haven't figured out how to do with MapQuest.

I've been using a GPS for over 4 years. I wouldn't do this job without it, especially since gas prices keep climbing.

To get driving directions only on MapQuest
After you get the directions, click on "Printer-Friendly" (top, left-hand side), then print Page 1. Page 2 is the map.

I find it interesting that MSN, MapQuest and Google all use the same source (NavTeq) for their maps. But the presentation and accuracy seems to vary widely, especially in specific areas. It's also interesting to note that BMW and Chrysler, as well as Garmin and Magellan also use NavTeq but again, the presentation of the information is widely varied. (I'm sure there are many other users of NavTeq data. IMO, they are tops in providing the most up-to-date maps to their vendors and keeping up with updates from surveyors, recorders and even the general public.)

My husband tells me that it is up to each individual county to report new streets, roads etc etc to these sites. There is also a fee involved to do this. It varies on how often they do this. They have to do it often enough to keep up with the 911 emergency systems.
