NNA Membership

Can anyone tell me the advantage of renewing of one's NNA membership? I realize each person's needs are different. Not trying to dog them...just interested in opinions. Thanks.

I can't think of one good reason unless you enjoy supporting an organization that's destroying your business.

I'll second that! I imagine you'll find that to be a fairly popular consensus, especially among those who have been around for a while.

I didn't renew for 2007!

It was a waste of money. I paid them a lot of money, and got nothing in return. I think I got 3 calls total from their notary directory, and only one of those companies would meet my fees.

I belong to only a few pay directories, and they are the ones that I get lots of calls from. In fact, in the last 3 weeks, I've taken on 6 new clients that I will be continuing to work with.

Speaking of the NNA and background checks

Has anyone significantly lost business because
they weren't "background" checked by the NNA?

What a superb lifting of money out of notary
pockets!

Since all that propaganda started not ONE,
not one, not one single company has
requested that I be background
checked...so here's me ...

o> -<

running around Texas... without a background check!

Yippee!

Kinda reminds me of the old bumpersticker:

PARTY NAKED!

PS - if you must be bg checked...you can
get one right here for a reasonable price!

Re: Speaking of the NNA and background checks

As far as the background check goes I went directly to the company the NNA, lenders and title use at lexis nexus and they only charged 13.00 for it. Every company that has requested if I had a background check accepted this report.

I learned from another notary who used the NNA background check and they had the Lexis Nexus reportand paid NNA prices. I don't see anything wrong with that but if I can go straight to the source and pay less for the same thing.......why not!!

Several of the companies that the NNA states require

background checks, hire me regularly without one. One company requested a background check on me 3 or 4 years ago, and I agreed. They paid for it, they sent me a copy and that was it.

Y'all just can't see the Forest for the trees. It's not the background check its the endorsement that you are paying extra for.

Re: Speaking of the NNA and background checks

I too have yet to be asked for it by a single company. I wonder how much money the NNA made off of that scam?
