Hello Angelica, I believe the Signing Registry website has a mentoring program. I'm not a member of that website so I can't give you any more info on it.

Good luck, there are so many signing agents out here, you can only stay in business if your next door neighbor doesn't charge $5 less than you. I would not quit my day job if I were you, unless you are the only notary doing signings within 100 miles from you.

It is a competitive field. Dog eat Dog. Some signing agent will chew u up and spit you out if you one bit lower your fees and to get more work. Hey, this is business. You do what you do to survive. Especially if you are a full time signing agent. So, if it means lower your fees to get more work. Then go for it. Referrals is the name of the game. If I can't do a signing I ALWAYS refer an excellent signing agent. I give referrals and I get referrals. So, this helps the links with signing agents.

I have mentored more than one Notary and it seems the more I give away the more I get...has something to do with a Biblical principal...like "give and it shall be given".

Some research necessary
to make a go in this business. Go to the top of the page - "Find a Notary" and enter in your zip code. It will tell you how many notaries there are within 20 - 25 miles of you. Think you will be amazed at the competition you will find. Good luck because this is not a good time to be entering in this business when almost every zip code has more notaries than work available. (contrary to what they may have told you in your class)

Angelica, I received my commission in the late 2005 and I start receiving call around April of 2006 because I was new and I didn’t know what to do (advertise etc…) I read a lot in every forum possible. Another notary was kind enough to let me go with her in one of her signing and when I start doing closing she also checked it to see if every thing was correct. Last month I close 37 loans not included double loan. Angelica you need advertise more webs possible. There are 475 Notary Public, 20 miles from your zip code. I see you are a basic member in this web site, well you need became a premier and take the first place, then you will start receive calls, and… read read read.
Thanks Tee for all your help.

Its all about marketing yourself
I have 2 close personal friends in Riverside Ca that have become notaries very recently, and they are getting calls everyday. I have another close friend that will get her commission in the next 2 weeks or so and she won't have any trouble getting hired if she markets herself correctly.
This website is a very good place to start advertising on and its one of the two that the industry goes to be hired.
Everyone talks about how many notaries we have in CA and we have much less what New York has per person. Ca has 1 notary per 126 people in 2007 and New York has 1 notary per 78 people. If your in Kansas you have 1 notary per 22 people. No one talks about New York being saturatued with notaries, much less Kansas.
