Notary Pro, $50...What are they thinking?
I received a call from Notary Pro for a refi, Sat 6/30. Documents have been sent to borrower so not sure how large the package is. But it is 22 miles one way, they offered $50. I told them this fee was not acceptable and gave them my acceptable fee. After gas I would be lucky to have $35, for two hours of my time on a Saturday. Last one I did for them was right near my house and when I printed the docs there had to be at least 250 pages between the title co and the lender. Anyone else have this experience with their fees?

What makes you think they think about our problems/wallet/expenses/profit, etc. at all?

Got the same call, minutes ago, for a 35 mile trip, one way for a tomorrow closing. They pay $50 and docs were overnighted to borrower. Told them my fee and they ask if I could do it for less. Nope, this isn't an auction! Well, anyway, still waiting for the "approval" and the "call back".

Great bunch of girls to work with though. They quit calling because they couldnt meet my fees that I had raised because I was running raggid for their signings. The only thing I didnt like, besides the low fees, was that they had called me for a signing once, met my fee, told me they would be sending a confirmation, but what they did was continue to shop and found someone else and did not bother to call me to say it wasnt happening. Live and learn. I would say if you are a newbie and the closing is real close then go for it. They were fun to work with.

I tell them my fee, they say no thanks, and occasionally, in desperation, they call back and agree to pay my fee. The only way to receive fair payment for our work is to refuse to work for low fees.

I always quote more if a company (low baller) would call back after not accepting my fee from the first call. I'd tell the scheduler to either get it "approve" now or $xx more if you decide to call back.
