SS Shocking!!!....1st and 2nd...$85.00
Just got a call for a closing in my county, (overnight)1st and 2nd docs, $85.00. Of course I gasped and even the scheduler said....how much do you need. I said I don't even close a single loan for $85.00 not to speak of 2 loans. I gave her a GOOD figure but of course...they have to get approval and get back to me....sounds like their getting their responses from Nations Direct. I'm NOT going to hold my breath. It's hard to believe they call call and quote those figures with a straight face.

you'll love this one... you know it's going to be low when they say, we have a closing ( by the way- it is a 45 minute drive one way)... got a call today for one that far away, and they said, the doc's will be overnighted to the borrower's home... for a 6pm settlement tomorrow night... and would I do it for $50.00!... I won't close my neighbor's loan for $50.00 let alone drive 45 minutes... what an insult... there are people I guess willing to do it.

In the past three years, I've gotten only one call for a $50 signing. I told the scheduler:
"I'll have to check with my creditors on that, and call you back." I hung up while he was still sputtering.
About a quarter of the time, though, when they low-ball and I in turn quote my fee, they do call back and agree.

I do that as well, but they don't call back, apparantly, someone in my area is doing it for their ridiculous fee's... they kill the industry.

I never get call backs either. It must be a Maryland thing. It's like pulling teeth if you state your fees are more than $125. I read on here constantly how in other states notary publics routinely get $150 or more for a signing even though their area is saturated. If that is true, that they get those fees, I just do not get how in Maryland there must be a licensed individual involved in the signing and they still lowball the fees and find takers. Surely with the extra costs involved no one who is doing these signings legally are accepting those fees. I guess that is the thing with having licensing. Those who do not have a license accept the lowball fees because, they do not have the extra expense, and those hiring companies who play by the rules will not hire them. If Maryland would just enforce the rules those lowball fees would go away.

I know licensed agents lowering their fees in Maryland because they aren't getting any business... ridiculous.
