Semi-OT: Computer guru needed...

In checking out some of the NotRot profile links, I stumbled on one poster's website that wouldn't let me page back to the NotaryRotary site. I've had this happen other times when I'm using Google to search for something: no matter how many times I click the "back" button, I remain on the page that opened. Is there any way to counter this? Usually I have to close Internet Explorer altogether and start over (as I had to tonight). Argh.

As an aside, I'd appreciate advice on a good website host, if anyone would care to PM me.

Thanks,
Rachel

Re: Semi-OT: Capturing a visitor is very rude!

Disabling the Back button is user-hostle. It is also the mark of a rank amateur.

Why do people do that?

Like ... a visitor will LIKE that?

Like ... they can't figure out how to get away and will HAVE to stay on that site?

Amazing.

Comcast does it because they're a monopoly. If anybody else offered high speed internet, I'd dump Comcast just because their www.comcast.net page breaks the back button. I can't write any more about them because young people might be reading, and I have to restrain my language.

If you click on the little down arrow next to the back button, you'll see NotRot listed as a previously viewed site. Just select that entry and you're back.
