ServiceLink
Has anyone else been asked to fill out a Statement of Residence and Employment. It asks you for your last 7 years of residence and employment. My question is this: If you have subjected yourself to the requirements of becoming a Notary or Title Agent and background screenings, why do they need this info?

Re: ServiceLink...IMHO as an Independent Contractor you are
not required to fill out this statement. I agree with your statement that IF you have subjected yourself to a background screening they don't need this additional (and redundant) information. But again, I'm not a lawyer but I have see one played on TV

I have received numerous notices that California notaries are not required to have a background screening, because the State of California has already done this in order to obtain your notary from the State of California?
In fact, I saw in the California notary Law, that if someone should ask you to participate in a background screening you should contact a lawyer?
What do you think?

My reputable clients don't nickel and dime me nor do they ask for last 7 years residency or employment. I took classes, got in my 16 hours of credit this year, they believe I am credible.

They are probably asking you for it as they plan on running a background check on you. ServiceLink is owned by LSI, and they require a background check on all their notaries.

I was asked for this info only when I was complying with background check requirements. I did that through NNA and haven't been asked since. I frequently take signings from ServiceLink, NationalLink - you name it.

Not to change the subject here, does anyone have trouble getting Service Link to meet their fee?
