Swear in for telephonic hearing

Has anyone ever done one of these? The hearing is set for 11:30 am on the 26th by telephone. I don't know what to expect. All I know is that it is on a military base. TIA

I clipped this from another post of mine. The meat of it is:

"They need notaries to go ID person at their home, dial into a teleconference hearing, swear the witness in before the hearing and then the notary can leave. It takes maybe fifteen minutes. Then you go back to your office and fax/email an oath of your own. "

Thanks Brenda. I do remember reading that post. Sounds easy enough. The hard part is going to be getting on the military base. They are so strict here. Client may have to come and meet me and sign me in.

Have the deponent notify base security to have a pass ready for you at the gate. Obviously, you will need to show proper ID. Smile

Last time I went on base they also wanted my proof of insurance card, my destination and who I was seeing.
It was disheartening to see guards with AK’s and dogs.
Oh for the days of a salute and “Have a good afternoon”.

Are YOU being deposed, or are you swearing in the deponent? If you are to administer the oath, then follow Brenda's guidance and you'll do just fine.

Thanks everyone. This should be interesting.

On a short note about getting on the base: My hubby hauls fuel to the gas station on the base here. He has to go to a certain gate and sometimes they ID him real hard, search his truck etc etc, other times they just let him through. One Sat a couple weeks ago, when he pulled onto the road where the gate is he could see that it had been hit by a vehicle and lying on the ground. He called them to notify them that he was on his way. No base personnel knew the gate was down till them came to let my husband in. So much for security at our bases.

Gotta tell you another one. This is sooo funny. When President Clinton flew into our base here, they unloaded his car from the plane and the car needed gas. They pulled up to the station (My husband just happened to be there unloading gas at that station). The station on base would NOT accept a government credit card. They had to go OFF base to buy gasoline for the Presidents car. If my husband hadn't been there and saw the entire thing unfold, he or I wouldn't haven't believed it. What this means is the government doesn't pay its bills. Simple as that. Unbelievable.

Actually when President Clinton was in office the Government credit card was American Express. Almost all bases didn't accept American Express at the time. Now most do.
Simple as that!

Beverly, all I know is that it was a government issued credit card. It very well could have been an American Express. All I know is that I also owned and operated a gas station at that time too. I had government employees use their card at my station and it was NOT an American Express. It was a government issued card. Looked totatlly different than any other card. If I remember right it was a red colored card. Sorry that I offended you.

You didn't offend me at all.

I ran the Banking office for MWR at a major naval base at that time. All Government credit cards that were issued were American Express. Many Sailors were discharged from the Navy because they were taking cash advances for personal reasons and got into a problem because they couldn’t pay the funds back. American express required for that type of account for you to pay the bill in full each month. They would over extend and then the red flag would go up to the PSD unit. This was BIG trouble.

Another problem was that the Clubs or exchange didn't take American Express. This became a problem when someone would be TDY on orders and they are supposed to pay expenses with that card. When a sailor can't get food, gas, lodging etc. on base this is a serious problem.

We had to start accepting American Express and pay them 5.9% of every sale for the privilege of the sailor being able to use that card. A real hit to our bottom line.

I know this is way too much information, sorry for taking up so much space and time!
