TomTom 510 problem

Hi all,
I purchased a TomTom 510 GPS system ~4months ago. I had to return the original one two days later because the screen went blank (not totally because the background was lit). The store I bought it from couldn't figure it out so they just replaced it. The replacement had worked fine up until today when, like the first one, this screen went blank!
Has anyone had this problem? I'm wondering if there is some built in flaw in this particular model.

I have the Tom Tom 300 no problems yet , except sometimes it takes me off one Hwy & on to the same highway via surface streets. No problems with the screen and I have had it about one year. Probably time to upgrade the maps.
