Adobe 8.0
We are having problems with Adobe 8.0 reading our documents. Anyone that has it please make sure that you also keep 7.0. The 8.0 will not read documents that have been created using the 6.0 or 7.0 writers.
At least that is what we have found with our documents anyways.

This really surprises me, as I have not found one file that I have not been able to read with Adobe Reader 8. I am curious to see what others say.

If ev1 remembers I was having a TON of prbs with 8.0, I dumped it and reloaded it twice still prbs....then I had a lightbulb moment and did a search for adobe on my system ... even though I followed instructions when upgrading I found that 4 old adobe programs were not removed and were hidden away in my computer... after I dumped them all 8.0 works perfectly.... so do a search and you might be surprised....

Tony,
I had a problem at first but after a clean install AND applying all the updates it has been fine. I have not had a problem with any docs in months.

I have been using Adobe reader 8.0. I have Adobe acrobat 7.0 standard on my computer. I have had no problems with 8.0 readind anything. However as ZeeCA said I think you must remove the old Adobe readers or you will have conflicts.

Tony, I was having problems too until I posted and was reminded of a post that Mike made...see 169221. No more problems once I re-read his post and I DIDN'T and HAVEN'T deleted 7. Not a single problem now.

Tony,
When I decided to go to Adobe 8..I deleted all components of Adobe 6 in my computer and
then installed Adobe 8. I have had no problems with 8 reading anything.

There was a download in the very beginning that was faulty. Once that was corrected I reinstalled and it's been great. You may not have a 'clean' copy.

Hi All,
I tried to go with 7 when it came out but had many problems, lost a couple jobs, and finally went back to 6. So I'm still running 6 and have had no problems. My question is, am I missing something by not upgrading to 8? Is there a reason, besides speed, that I must go with 8 in the future? I am very apprehensive with upgrading and don't reallly want to if it is not necessary. I do have the full version of 6 so I will lose my ability to create pdf files if I have to dump it to use 8 reader.

I use 8.0 reader, and have acrobat 7 installed. Both work fine. (I did delete all older versions of the reader, {recommended} before installing 8)
