Embosser

I'm thinking of getting an embosser after reading all previous posts regarding "attaching" loose acks/jurats to the signed document (as just another security measure). Plus, it makes it look a little more official to my customers. Wink

My question is, can the embossed image be placed on text? Or do I have to find a common blank space on both pages? What if there's none?

Thanks,
Ever

In Florida, the embosser is not the official seal of the Notary. The black, rubber stamp is. So, I emboss both pages together in the lower right corner. If there is printing there, so be it. It doesn't hide the printing so there's no harm done.

I agree with PAW, it shouldn't matter. BUT I have used my embosser occassionally along with the official rubber seal and I have noticed that the recorders office (or maybe the title company) has gone over the embosser to make it show up on copies, and if it was over printing it may have been a problem.

Re: Embosser--don't need it for Loan Docs

As Sylvia stated, if it's a recordable document, they do have to 'go over it' with ink so that it will show up when they put it on microfilm. And, if over wording, it isn't a pretty sight. Further, it's one extra step that they must take at the County Recording office (and--from personal ancient knowledge--it annoys them!) You can almost as easily & far less expensively simply reference your jurat or acknowledgement (right after the word 'foregoing')to the document thus:
On this, the day of , 200 before me, , the undersigned officer, personally appeared , known to me (or ha___ satisfactorily proven) to be the person(s) whose name(s) is/are subscribed to the
foregoing _____________________________________and acknowledged that he/she/they executed the same for the purposes therein contained.

Or whatever ack/jurat wording is compliant in your state.
