Funniest call from Nations Direct!

She said she was from Nations when I answered. Can I do a closing tonight in a city about 12 miles from me. I asked what time, yes I can. And what is your fee she asks. XXX I say. That's the least you would do it for? Yes, I tell her. Oh that's what we get from the lender. I said what company are you from? Nations Direct. Ding ding ding!!!! Light bulb. I don't see you in our system, oh wait I found you. It says something about you saying bad things about us on message boards. I said what, that I said you're cheap? She said yes, I said well you are cheap. It's not like I'm lying. There's no point in beating around the bush. I told her it wasn't directed at her, that she seemed nice, but I wasn't leaving my house for $60. She got huffy and said I never asked you to go for $60, so thank you for your time. I said thanks for yours and hung up. Funny stuff!!!!

I had a closing scheduled today for Saxon WI, but had to cancel because US Hwy 2 is closed up north. There is no way to get there. The bank in town is closed, no mail delivered, school has been closed for two days...no UPS or Fed Ex. All we can do is watch it come down. It has been snowing and blowing steady since Wednesday about midnight!

It's snowing and blowing, but manageable right now. I had 3 this morning and 1 tonight. I only took local ones though. Be safe out there!

They probably can't afford to pay reasonable rates for experienced signers because they have the overhead cost of having people pruse the forums and enter negative information into their files. I'm suprised they offered $60, $40 is their normal rate with a lot of fax backs.

The only reason they stay in business is because they get some notaries to work for $40.00 and who would want to fax all that paperwork back for a lousy $40.00. Not me.

Yes, they call me too. I can't remember everyone who calls me, so before I say yes, I ask how much they pay. "Nations Direct", sound a lot like "Notaries Direct", which I do like, so I get confused when I am caught off guard. I tell them my fee, and I tell them if they can get it approved, just send over the invoice.

Please, don't anyone lower your fees and work for that pittance, or our good clients will leave our good signing services and go through Nations Direct.

The last time I worked for ND they paid me $80.00-- & in the package that was emailed to me was a price schedule from the people they were dealing with: ND was making $375 ! I guess they do have a lot of overhead but they still need to pay they're notaries a respectful fee & stop dealing out insults (IMHO). & That was the last time I worked for those knuckleheads.

i said not my fault you do not know how to negotiate for a reasonable amount so you can pay out a living wage....
