Yes, this has been the reputation of the Pocono Area for years. You would think the Title Comanies would know they are and have been watched since the '90's! I work with loan officers that will not even work this area for advertising even though this area is still quite ripe for ny and nj people moving this way.

I am very familiar with this subject. I used to originate mostly new construction loans for a mortgage broker in the Poconos when this hit the fan. After that I worked for other mortgage companies and most lenders had exceptions to doing business in Monroe county for construction loans and required additional appraisals for refinances. Basically a lot of the lenders did not want to take the chance. I don't blame them.
