I feel alot better now
I've been waiting for a long time for my NNA membership to run out. They have done nothing for me except ask for money. They have answqered questions incorrectly, took them two tries to get my stamp right, messed up orders, and the list goes on and on. I rejoined them last year, but that was before I realized just how useless they were. Today I took all their renewal notices (there were quite a few) and burned them in the gas grill. It felt good! I joined two other organizations (ASN and USNA) yesterday. From all the posts, they seen to be able to actually benefit notaries and are not out for their own personal gain. I've always relied on PAN for state issues. GOOD BYE NNA! Next step is to become a premier memer of NR! Jo PS - Haven't posted for a while, but have kept up by reading every day.

Your Actions Should be the Rule...
...instead of the exception. One can only hope you're the start of a landslide. My hat's off to you!

Re: I feel alot better now...because I use all
resources and determine incorrect information, I keep my NNA membership current. I do realize that I am among the few to feel this way, but I prefer to keep my options open. I have made many friends by being a member of the NNA. Chicago Bob is a great friend that I met through the NNA, among many others. Believe it or not, I have received many assignment through contacts I have made at previous NNA conferences. Depending on where the conferences are held, they can not only be business but extremely fun.

Back at ya , Steph. I agree with all that you said. Also....
I get more than enough acceptable assignments from my listing there to more than pay for my membership.

Sometimes you have to put principle over money
It's shameful what the NNA has done to this industry. It's shameful that people know this yet will continue to support them, and that support will enable them to f*** over notaries even more than they do.
Personally, I think only a complete idiot would continue to give money to a company that is actively trying to make sure that the idiot is unable to make a decent living at the job. But if you idiots want to whore yourselves out because you get some signings out of it, there's nothing the rest of us can do about it.

and the polite, professional manner in which you regard those whose opinions might differ from your own. Dox are printed, gotta run

What can I say, I call a spade a spade
and an idiot an idiot and a whore a whore.
I don't even look at it as a matter of opinion. It is a cold hard fact that the NNA is ONLY about the money and doesn't care one whit about its members beyond what they can get out of their members' pockets. If there was ever any lingering doubt about it, their actions regarding the background check over the past few months have made it crystal clear. Anyone who doesn't see it for what it is is a fool.
Of course you've had your nose so deep in the ass of the NNA for years that I wouldn't dream of anything I say changing your opinion. I don't know what kind of pictures they have of you and what body parts are in whose mouth in them, but they sure must have something embarrassing on you which keeps you as their b!tch.

Re: Sometimes you have to put principle over money
I was always b!tching about their methods so it seemed a little bit double-minded to pay a single dollar to them to help them continue something I felt very strongly about in such a negative way.
You can always tell what is important to a person by the way they spend their time and money. That's my 2 cent philosophy contribution of the day.

I Couldn't Agree More...
...with your "2 cent philosophy of the day". Gotta run...kiddos are getting ready for bed & I wouldn't want to miss tucking them in.

Never truer words spoken, Brenda. My youngest is my 'money pit' and 'time bandit', two pet names I use frequently. Nice philosophy :o) Worth more than .02, imho.

I'm going to renew my membership, for only one reason - most of the assignments I get are from my listing here as a Premier Member, but I also get assignments from my listing on the NNA's signing agent site. I look at it simply as advertising dollars - you spend the money where you will get a return, and as long as it's generating sales for me, I'll continue to renew.
That doesn't mean I'm drinking the Kool-Aid... I don't agree with some of the stuff they do, and I stopped buying supplies from them when I found more reliable suppliers. But if being a member helps boost my sales, I would be crazy to not renew.
As always, your mileage may vary...

I have gotten zero business from them, and nothing but "happ
y stories of riches" to new prospects who are dumb enuff to pay for a class taught by them. In fairness, I can say that I have never been told by anyone that they found me on this website either. BUT, this website shows me that they are more for the notary than the notary being for them...."ahsk NOT what NNA can do for you...but what YOU can do for Harry"
Full disclosure....I'm not a lawyer, or doctor...but I've seen them both played on tv
