I got my first call from SOX

I've been perusing this board and pouring over all of the messages for the last 6 weeks or so. Got an ear full (or eye full in this case) of the SOX posts.

The other night, my phone rings at 5:17pm with a fast talker. He barely said the company name, but I heard it. Also caller ID said 949 area code. He had a signing for me to do "right away." I politely said no way and hung up.

DH asked me why did I refuse the signing, and I told him that I don't work for free. I told him about this board and about SOX's reputation.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you. Had it not been for this awesome board and all of the useful information, I would've been another casualty.

SOX & that Private Investigator....

..... speaking of SOX, does anyone have any info or an update on the SOX investigation that that Private Investigator was conducting? He had a couple of posts here, of an intimidating and demanding sort, some time back and then no more. Does anyone know?

Re: SOX & that Private Investigator....

You mean the posts by SOX pretending to be a PI? I'm imagining that the "investigation" never made it very far at all.

Ms. Fair

I'm ok without your help. There are plenty of you who do not share your opinion. I'm not sure why you needed to share your dislike of me? But look how upset you are with me and I don't owe you any money?????

Please notice in his PM to me he says "...and I don't owe you any money??????" Methinks Dick Randy is a Fox in the Hen House. Not to mention the fact that a loud stench of Fish seems to permeate the board when he posts.

Ditto re Accusigning ... Thanks!

I received a call from Accusigning on Tuesday. I keep a spreadsheet of all the pertinent comments made on NotRot, which I check if I'm at home when a call comes in. My list said CA-bad, MN-good. So, I asked the caller which one they were--CA. I told him, sorry, no, and why. He didn't argue, just said OK and hung up.

I believe I've also read that Accusigning low-balls, so even if I didn't know the reputation, they wouldn't have been able to meet my fee.

So thank you to all who share their experiences.

Re: Ditto re Accusigning ... Thanks!

Accusigning just called and accepted my fee, but they do want fax back so I said; that will be $xx more. I also asked if the fax back was their requirement for the lender/tc. I didn't get a straight answer, but the guy said we use them for faster funding. Sorry, I just don't have a good feeling about the name of your company, please call the next notary on your list....Click.

I applaud your action. You not only helped yourself, but all of us! The only way we can rid ourselves of these parasite companies is... NOT to work for them! I think I would have said: "I don't take edocs from your company" and told them why (no pay) "But, if you'd like to over-night me the docs, along with an enclosed check, in the amount of $ XXX.XX, for my services, I'll be happy to accommodate you. With SOX just hanging up is appropriate. Thieves don't deserve an explanation.
THANK YOU! If we all had your courage SOX would be a memory!

"The only way we can rid ourselves of these parasite companies is... NOT to work for them!"

Well, this company is still a player with major clients. Negative posts have persisted, almost daily, from the inception of this forum, 2003. While many signing companies with stelar relationships with their notaries have gone by the wayside, these peoples business plan seems to work very well.

Unfortunately true. It is difficult for a signing service that actually pays their notaries to compete with a signing service that does not. However if NONE of us would work for SOX (including the many thousands of brand new NNA "signing agents"Wink they would be gone in a week.

Getting a call from Sox is an NSA hazing ritual.

Turning them down and telling them why means you passed.

You are now welcomed into NSAdom.

Congratulations!

(Not serious about the hazing, etc, of course! But don't calls from Sox feel like some sort of obnoxious challenge?)
