If it's brown... flush it...
Grrrrrr.... UPS....
Did a signing late, I mean late Friday... TC wanted it back ASAP UPS Priority... So I start checking around midmorning Sat...
my local UPS store will not take a package on someone else's account.
the UPS terminal is a 40 minute drive and their pickup time is 11:00am.
no boxes have any Saturday pickup anywhere near.
@#$%^ I'll just have to send it Monday, couldn't get a hold of SS so oh well...
Monday I'm headed South... I know in the town north of me that Kino's has a UPS box and is a MUCH better place to drop UPS than the UPS store.
Not so in the South town... so I head over to the UPS store.
Nope, they wouln't take it either. "But this is the UPS store right?" I ask. Yeah, but no deal... you have to go to the terminal in Tenbucktoo.
I know an independent store that would fix it, but I had had enough, called TC told them if they wanted their docs to give me a FexEx number.
They did.
What a PITA.
P.S. UPS Stores... quit being such Jackasses. We understand that you're independent. But you have the companies brand... Charge me a $2-3 convenience fee if you want, no problem, but take the damn packages.

There's a mail center, who represents Fed Ex, less than a mile away from my house. The guy will not accept third party billing. (I think he makes $1.00 for doing nothing--Drop it off; Fed Ex picks it up. He tells me he might not get his money. (Give me a break!) Therefore, I have to drive 8 1/2 miles (one way) to the next Fed Ex to deliver docs. What a PITA! So, sometimes, the "other" carrier isn't so hot either.

I talked at length with the owner my local UPS store. He will accept third party billings that are already entered into the system through the internet, but not handwritten. He has no way of verifying the billing account number. If it is invalid, then the owner gets billed for the package. When the sender enters the number into the system the billing number is verified as valid, or you can't print the label (both Fedex and UPS). There is then no risk to the store owner and he will accept the package.
I know that everyone is paranoid about being billed for invalid account numbers, but I have sent hundreds and hundreds of sets of docs that I have entered into the system myself and verified the numbers and have never been charged back...... ever. On occasion, the original number has been rejected, I then call and get a good number and complete the transaction. For me, it is quicker to enter them into the system myself than to fill out a label by hand. No time lost and no problem dropping the docs ......

Now that makes sense, Glen ...
I do what you do - online, with all the shippers - and I've never had an issue. The local UPS Store takes the UPS ones, no sweat. Makes so much sense now that you explain WHY they might've seemed just less-than-helpful! Who wouldn't do the same thing?!
Every now and again, I'll get a FedEx acct number that just doesn't want to work - but you must have the ZIP CODE of the office that holds the FedEx account. I've always been able to fix that with a phone call.

Of course, it would be nice if .......
the mail store owners would explain that to their customers rather than just making them angry ...... It would go a long way to good customer relations .

You're exactly right Glenn
My UPS guy showed up the other day and I had one ready so I asked him if I could just give it to him. He said as long as it's a PREPRINTED shipper and not a handwritten one any driver anywhere CAN accept it. Had it been a bill I filled out he wouldn't have been able to take it.

Why not just call for a pick up? Why make things more difficult than they are?

Depends on the time too. UPS says we'll be there tomorrow. UPS only open here from 2pm-6pm Mon-Fri. No Saturday hours except delivery. UPS store will take a Saturday package but charges $10 more for weekend pickup, otherwise wait until Monday. I have also had UPS not deliver overnight packages to borrower for three days because they do not drive over 20 miles for just one delivery. Remember though, Wyoming is very rural.
FedEx open 9am-6pm M-F and 10am-1pm Saturday. Great to work with.

Good thing you don't do signings the same way...
Sorry, tell the loan officer I can't go that far till I have a second job in the same village...
Wyoming might never sell a house again.
One of these days I gotta go see your State... sounds like a fun place. I've only heard one thing wrong with it my whole life, and he lives in DC now.

Wyoming is a great place. I semi-retired seven years ago and left San Diego for the ZERO stress factor and easy going lifestyle. Image, a state with one-quarter the population of San Diego alone. Only 1.4 people per square mile up here.

UPS won't pick up from my area unless you arrange the pickup the day before. I HATE UPS, and ask every TC for their Fed Ex account number. I also have a problem not getting UPS next day air deliveries before 7pm. I've got one to drop off today.
USAA Bank had a system worked out with UPS that you could drop off your bank deposit at the UPS store, and USAA would get it the next day. USAA paid for it. From what I understand, UPS totally mishandled things, and USAA customers are back to using regular mail for deposits.

USAA actually now has it where you can "Deposit at Home" with your scanner. You input the amount of the check, scan front, scan back, and done. It credits your account immediately, whether the check is for $1 or $5000. ($5000 is the daily limit, if I remember correctly). Its awesome! No more trips to the bank for me!
