Is this REALLY you?

Is this just an Alabama thing or what? When looking at a person's photo ID, more times than not I could swear that the person standing in front of me is NOT the same person in the photo ID. Normally, when this happens I ask for a 2nd ID and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. What's up with that? This week one Borrower admitted that he/she had had gastric bypass surgery. I guess he/she felt they ought to say something because I kept looking at the ID and then looking at the Borrower. Do any of you have a "spiel" you use that is polite and unoffensive when you are questioning a person's identity. I know I could ask "Do you have an id with a more current photo"; but....if I'm asked why....do I really want to say "...because this photo doesn't look like you"? I'm not questioning whether the id card is valid or not. It's just the photo that's driving me nuts!

I had a twin sister once try to pull it off, cause the other sister was out of town till the following week and the loan had to sign. It fell apart when the real sister called and the son said "Daddy, Mom wants to know if the loan signer has made it"? She was a spitting image of her sister and signed just like the license.Kinda scary.

The feds may mandate new state drivers license. If this happens, the new licenses will be almost impossible to change.

In calif you can have a DL for 15-20 years and they just renew and slap a sticker on....

I just got a new picture license last year after one from college being the last...

The eyes, nose, mouth & general structure of face are always discernable (to me, anyway). I ignore hair styles, color & amount of hair. (Guys sometimes get balder.) I did once refuse to notarize loan docs--the lady in front of me was definitely NOT the same one on the DL photo. Nor could she come up with one single 'other' thing--nothing that had DL name on it.
