LIA SIGNING!!! WHAT A JOKE.
I did a picture perfect closing on 2/10/2007 and still have not been paid. I have called each day and we are now 50 days out. I have attached a late fee of $10.00 and they are not happy about that. I have contacted the lender and they said that I have to deal with Lia Signing.
I wish that I would have found this forum before I did the closing for them in February. WHAT a nightmare. I have to chase down this and do my signings at the same time....this is not cost effective at all.
Please all notaries.....beware of this company!!! This is not a good way to make money. Keep chasing the one closing that won't pay. This is very frustrating.
I hope that someone from LIA will please send me the $95 that they now owe me. So that I can go back to work for the companies that do pay me on time and within 30days.
Well back to the phone brigade to this company.....!!! Thanks for letting me vent.

I like LIA Signing, they are a no nonsense company to work for (no faxbacks or taking up your time with extra documents/requests.) They do take awhile to pay, but have always paid me.

It took 63 days for them to pay me, so now no more LIA for me. I do however work for the service that outsources to them.

They pay and they get work from LSI when the schedulers can't get one on their own. you'll take a $25. hit because they want to make something, but they do pay. I look at it as keeping the pipeline filled. If you are busy and have income arriving regularly, I don't think it's harmful to have those few late payers, as they do also add to the bottom line.

At what point, do you say enough is enough?
I cannot think of any other business that I deal with that grants as good terms as we in this field do. My mortgage company gives me 30 days and if not they hit my credit report. My Mastercard gives me 25 days of ride and if I don't pay within that time they slap me with an interest charge. Safeway, Shell, the Post office all expect their money as we consumate our business. Why is is all right for us to extend 45-75 days of free ride? Now with so many signing services and title companies going out of business and taking our rightfully earned money with them, it maybe time to tighten the credit just to have a fighting chance at getting that money. I do have income arriving regularly, but I get tired of chasing the occasional company who "is having a financial squeeze". If you don't have the operating capital to do business, I believe I will pass on being the "mobile notary bank" for you.

LIA. That is the same SS that I referred to (without naming them) in my "Too Cheap" post. Now I know why they are low balling. Cripes - it's bad enough we have to deal with SS "middle men," i.e., sub contractors. But to deal with sub-sub contractors? No thanks. That's why they take so long to pay. I subcontract for an aviation security contractor (writing/editing/formatting) and "when the prime gets paid, the sub gets paid." Similar in the mobile notary work, it seems. To add an additional lay of "bureaucracy" is absurd. I wonder if that's how American Signings works. It took them 64 days to get a check to me. In contrast, I've received checks in a week or two from others.
LIA wanted to pay $100 for a 1st and 2nd refi. Pound salt.... When I turn into a 501 (c)(3), I'll be glad to help them out.

Girl - you crack me up! It's a shame we are so far away from each other. I think that we could have an indepth conversation...over cocktails... and discuss who can pound what, where, when and how! You know the distance isn't that big of a problem. It's driving home after the cocktails!
I dodged a deer and a moose on my way home tonight. Careful they are coming out of the woods.

Spring has sprung, the grass has riz... Not quite. We're forecast for rain and snow showers. 62 degrees tomorrow and then 38 degrees on Tues, I believe. Some patches of snow still on the ground. But at 55 degrees, off come the coats and it's shirt sleeves. We hit 70 and we're sweltering here in Maine.
