Making mistakes

Twice this week I have been called to "fix" errors that another notary made at TWO closings. I don't know who he is, but it's the same guy.
At the one closing, he missed several signatures & initials, which means he didn't double check his work. (I know.. we all can miss a signature or initial once in a while).
At the other closing, the chip on his shoulder really upset the borrower. He didn't read page 1 of the closing instructions that said at the top " NOTARY CLOSING INSTRUCTIONS". Had he read that, this deal would have gone through.
With the current situation going on in our business, now is the time to NOT make any mistakes and be VERY careful.
As for the notary making mistakes, I say "thanks" for the extra work.

Sadly, I earn a tidy ancillary income by fixing mistakes. I also use it as an opportunity to promote our Network by informing the hiring entity that each member of the Florida NSA Network guarantees their work to be 100% error-free, thereby eliminating second trip charges. I have cultivated numerous leads this way. I suppose it's the "silver lining" with regard to XYZ churning out 300 new SA's in my area in the past year.... there are lots of mistakes to fix.

I do the same, Lisa. I have companies calling me regularly to fix other people's errors, especially when they see my FL NSA Network designation and the fact that I guarantee my work to be error-free. Not that I never make a mistake, but it's rare because I triple-check every package before it goes out of here.

Last night, I was asked to go 2 blocks to correct someone else's mistake. The original notary neglected to have the non-borrowing spouse sign the required documents and then refused to fix her error (according to the title company). I was more than happy to charge my full fee to have the borrowers sign approximately 40 pages. Smile

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout, Melissa!
I usually tell the TC, in a very nice way, that I am being sent back to Borrowers that are probably unhappy... especially in the instance of funding delays... and my full fee is required.
The fully executed docs are scanned and emailed within an hour of closing as a courtesy in these instances so that the EO can get on with closing out the file.
