Re: The evil NNA has futher corrupted the industry
i got the same thing. I sent the following response back to mortgage docs. "Do you realize that to even be a Notary in the State of NH you have to have a background check before you are appointed? And you want me to pay for another background check for $50 signings?"
i am still waiting for a reply. I dont really think i will get one!

Re: The evil NNA has futher corrupted the industry
Well all I keep hearing from other Notary forums in other Webcites is that the NNA is just trying to make more money off of us. First of all to become a Notary in many states you have to go through a background check anyway to become a Notary as well as pass a test. This new background check is just another way for the NNA to collect more money from you. I've been through various background checks for other jobs in the State of Nevada and I didn't have to pay for it. The Company that hired me did it. I've even gone through an FBI check which I didn't have to pay for just the card I needed to have on me when working in a Casino. so I don't intent to go through a background check unless it is a written law here in the State of Nevada for Notaries. I just keep up on any new laws or changes in your State you do Notaries in and if they say that you will be put at the end of a listing. Just keep on researching other webcites for Notaries that you do not have to pay to be listed or market, market, market yourself.

The best part is that here in Indiana as long as you did not commit defraud or deciet you can be a loan officer for the state and you do not have to have a background check and you can be a felon. Not to give the felons an idea or anything.

Good old Indiana - perhaps instead of the saying referring to our monker "Hoosiers" meaning "Hoos your dadddy", it can be changed to "Hoos your parole officer?"

WTH does your driving record have to do with ensuring the protection of customers privacy? What about OUR privacy?
What a joke...I'm just waiting for some young punk to hack into the XYZ's database or MortgageDocs database with all that private, non-public information. It's become obvious to me that the XYZ and others don't give a hoot about OUR privacy. I think I'll start asking for a D&B report before extending credit to companies and I will ask for their BGC before I send mine so I can be sure they have had the proper training to protect MY private, nonpublic information.
It's one big circle jerk...think about it.

Totally right, Becca...
One ever-expanding circle jerk & we're in the middle of the circle. While the NNA sits around thinking up new & interesting ways to get more members/money. They think of everything--EXCEPT the Notary for whom they supposedly started the organization.

Becca - just for the record...
"I'm just waiting for some young punk to hack into the XYZ's database or MortgageDocs database with all that private, non-public information."
XYZ doesn't have the information from the BGC in a database - all they have is pass or fail info. And the private, non-public information doesn't appear in the resulting BGC - it's masked, so what you get are the results (public information) without the non-public information.
Don't know how secure MortgageDocs database is, so you have a point there - I would certainly never upload the results of a background check anywhere, unless I was sure that all sensitive information had been removed.
As for the driving record - they're probably looking for things like DUI and DWI, or other license suspensions. It has nothing to do with protecting customer privacy per se, but it does bring the individual's character into question.

Nothing of course. BUT, perhaps if you've received several speeding tickets you'll move several notches up the list since it might show a willingness to 'do what it takes' to get to your appts.
