Nations Direct
Phone rings.
This is Nations Direct. We have a double signing (1st and a 2nd) near you.. e-mail docs.
We're offering $80.
The call was at 5:30pm. The signing was supposed to be at 9:30 tonight.
I told them my fee was $xxx. Nope, they couldn't go that high. Well, I told them, that's my
fee.
They'd have to talk to management and call me back.
They did and they did.
Would I take $135? No, my fee is $xxx.
They'd have to check with management again.
I thought...that's the end of it..I'm rid of them.
Wrong.
They called back. How about $150..we're not making a cent on this?
Told them your problem is not my emergency (wife laughing in background.) My fee is $xxx.
No compromise.
No call back
Nothing
End
Happy it didn't work out.

Re: I've gotten three calls in the last two days
All undercutting my standard fee by $30, $35 and $60 and no negotiating - this is what we're paying and that's it.

Sometimes they agree....
to my fees sometimes they won't. When they do I will do their faxbacks and let them babysit as they actually pay, which is more than I can say for some. They are much more likely to meet your fees if there are few of you in the area.

Back in the day when I was still in the "Corps," I remember going for an appt to get my household goods shipment set up, and the lady helping me had this sign on her computer:
"Piss poor planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on mine." (or something to that effect)
I still laugh every time I think about it...lol

Fire them. I went did a rush, printed documents and then the client refused to sign. The fees were not even close to what they promised the client on a refi. The preliminary hud and final hud were miles apart. Client refused to sign after we discussed it at length with them on the phone.
They refused to pay as it did not sign.
BE WARNED.
FIRE THEM.

Customers refusing to sign due to the fees being off is an issue with the Loan Officer on that particular loan.
We need to blame the responsible party here. Within any mortgage company there are good LO's who examine the HUD for accuracy and contact the borrower prior to you showing up and there are also bad ones who don't go over anything.
As we all know it is not the TC's, SS or the SA's fault the customer is uninformed as to their rate, term and final numbers. We like the borrower are victims of poor customer service on the LO's part.

No there is more to the story. The had sent another notary the day before because the fees were too high. That notary refused to come a second. None of this was disclosed to me when they hired me but came up later as we were trying to get the loan signed.
But hey, don't take my word for it. Go ahead a work for them. You can them 100% as far as I am concerned.

I agree, that is a crummy thing to do.

Unfortunatly, when you are one of only 2 notaries within 40 miles and 4 notaries within 70 miles, what this company does is just continue to call you, and call you, and call you. I posted a new thread today on this company based on an experience I had with them last night. 7 calls between 8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (for a closing that was supposed to take place at 10:00 p.m.) I turned my cell phone off after that and turned the ringer off on my home phone. They have no problem calling either at all hours of the night, even after I have declined a closing....several times.
