Is there any way to return to posts on a aparticular day, besides repeatedly clicking backwards from today or forward from the first day?

The search option lets you use dates as a search criteria in addition to topic and author...down at the bottom of the search page - is that what you're looking for?

With a little trial and error on my part ended up finding that message 7000 gets you to about 9/1/04. I'm not sure if you were looking for a particular topic, but maybe this will help get you there.
