Notarizing Capacity in CA -- Help!!

Can anyone quickly tell me where I can find the section in the CA notary handbook that states we "cannot" notarize capacity? I need to make a copy to send to the title company.

I did a double loan signing for investors today and they signed their names and they also sign as Blah Investment, Inc. In the notary block it has Blah investment listed. I told the title company that in CA we can't notarize capacity so what do they want me to do with the block. They said this is done all the time in CA. I want to send them the statute or part of the notary handbook so they can see for themselves. I said it is well known in CA that you "cannot" notarize capacity. She didn't seem to believe me. I would like to send her proof . . thx!

TIA!!

Re: Notarizing Capacity in CA -- Help!!- Susan....

In the future, you can click on the Home tab above where there is a link to the CA SOS website. You can bring up the Notary Handbook (pdf format) and do a search on anything you are looking for. Smile
